Adam is four years old and is a fighter diagnosed with Wilms Tumor stage IV. He is very active, loves sports, police and power rangers. He is a happy boy fighting a very tough battle.

Description:
Connor is currently in remission from a rare pediatric liver cancer called Hepatoblastoma. His remission is being monitored with monthly doctor's visits and lab work. He has a 9 month old brother Matthew that he loves to try and help his mother care for. Connor loves trains, his favorite is Thomas. Lately Connor's favorite activity is kicking the scoccer ball, he loves it and it helps to build the strength in his legs.

Daniel had a need for a kidney transplant and received one the day we left for Charleston in 2005. He's doing things a normal kid does now and is making up for lost time.

Victoria had a germ cell tumor in her lower abdomen that had damaged nerves in her left leg. Consequently her left foot has lost proper function. This rare germ cell tumor occurs in only 1 to 2 children in a million each year.

Description:
Zack was in a serious car accident when he was two years old and because of that, he was left a quadriplegic. Zack is an inspiration to all that know him. Despite his injuries, he has learned to play wheelchair soccer, ride horses, and amaze all that he meets. He has been seen out racing police officers on their bicycles. He kicks Captain Mike’s rear (see photobucket).

Dora the Explorer is among the Hometown Heroes. Daniella, in the course of four years, has beaten Leukemia. She was a very shy little girl and now she is full of energy, running and jumping into everyone’s arms and using furniture like a trampoline. Gaige was diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphoma, October 2007. He is an eight year old boy enjoys sports and Nascar. We received some exciting news from LCH. Gaige had entered a contest last month to design a NASCAR RACE CAR for MARCOS AMBROSE #59. Several hospitals were involved and Gaiges car has been picked. He is so EXCITED!
Good News continues to come his way...he is in remission, back in school and has taken his Make-a-Wish trip to Disney that was magical.

We assisted with car repairs on India's mom's car thanks to the assistance of Hometown Heroes rider Mike Fest and his employer friends at Dale Jarrett Ford in Monroe. Thanks guys!! Also, a generous deputy from Mecklenburg County and his wife were kind enough to assist India's family with some much needed necessities at home. Once again, our family is growing and we welcome India and her family.

Julia was diagnosed with T-cell accute lymphocytic lukemia in Oct. 2004, at 2 years old, Julia is now six years old and has to contiune another year of chemo. She enjoys playing dress up in pretty pink and purple dresses. She lost her first tooth June 15th at the swimming pool. She is a litte shy until she gets to know you and then watch out, she will play and talk your ears off. Julia has 2 brothers Greg & Thomas that she loves dearly. She also got to ride in a pink limo for her birthday,and graduated kindergarden in June.

Kailey
Description:
Kaily was diagnosed with AMC Leukemia in Sept. 2005. Kaily finished her treatments in Feb. 2005 if she stays in remission for three years she will be on the road to recovery. She is quite the Hometown Hero spokes person. She is funny, active and a beautiful little girl. She loves soccer and participating in HTH events. Kaily is a role model for our other kids.
She is now in remission and has a wonderful head of curly hair that she vows she will never cut.

Update 5/15: Nathan entered into the hospital for emergency surgery related to what was thought to be an aneurysm (bleed in his brain) to relieve pressure on his brain. Please keep Nathan and his family in your thoughts and prayers!

Steven was diagnosed, at the age of one, with cancer in one of his eyes. He was taken to Philadelphia to have the eye removed. He received a glass eye, which he promptly fed to his dog. It has since been replaced and he is doing well.

Description:
She was two years old when she was caught in a house fire and received burns on over 40% of her body. She is very lucky to be alive. Her father ran back into the fire and pulled her out to safety. She spent several years in the burn center and had several surgeries. She has had her last surgery on her hand and the doctors did a wonderful job to return her back to the little princess that she is.

Cali was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor know as Classic Medulloblastomo in June 2007. She recieved a bone marrow transplant in 2008 from Duke. Cali just celebrated her 2nd birthday and the HTH's rode out to celebrated with her and her family. Cali lives with both parents and has an older sister, Bella, soon she will have a new sister in July. Cali loves muscie and her favorites are 50's & 60's Rock & Roll.

Description:
In Oct. 2007, Chance was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor at age 15. Duke Medical Hospital has handled all his treatments. Since his treatments ended in Feb. 2008 the doctors said there are no signs of the tumor.Chance is now a honor student at Early College. He has a great sense of style and a funny personality. He doesn't let his illness slow him down. Chance was picked 6th out of his school to attend Phiffer College for the summer. He has 2 sisters, Journey & Kendall that are 4 & 5 years of age. Last update in June the doctors are saying he is doing fine.

My name is Devin and I am 3 years old now. I am the youngest of seven children. I was diagnosed on August 15, 2007 with rhabdomyosarcoma. The tumor was 2 cm located behind my eye, wrapped around my optic nerve and laying on 2 of the 4 eye muscles. My only symptom was a bulging eye. After chemo and 5 weeks of radiation the tumor is gone. The follow-up MRI showed no evidence of disease. I will continue to have MRI's done every 3 months for the first year to make sure it remains gone. Thanks for your prayers and support. You really are "Hometown Heroes."

Description:
Aug. 2000 Spencer and his family found out he had Rhabdomyosarcoma, he was only 15 months old. Spencer has had 2 relapes since 2001 with the removal of his left lung and two ribs. In Aug. 2007 after years of chemo and various other treatments the Griffin family was blessed with good news that Spencer's CT scans were clear and have been that way since. We pray they stay that way. Spencer has 2 sisters, Marleigh and Kendall. The entire family is very active in sports, the girls with cheerleading. Spencer loves baseball and was chosen to play for the Allstars and happens to be a great hitter. SLAM IT, HOME RUN KING!!!! Spencer is now 9 years old.
